The Van Wert County Common Pleas Court is a trial court of general jurisdiction which hears all civil, felony criminal and domestic relations cases. Civil cases involve issues arising out of personal injuries, contracts, mortgage foreclosures, workers' compensation claims and various appeals of administrative agencies. Domestic relations cases include divorce, dissolution of marriage, domestic violence, plus matters involving child support, spousal support, custody and visitation.

The challenges facing the court system are enormous. Caseloads are rising. Technology is exploding. Social issues are more complex. Communities are rightfully demanding accountability from the courts. Operating costs are under ever-closer scrutiny by cash strapped local governments.

The commitment of the Judge and staff of this court is to continue to offer high standards of excellence in the most creative, knowledgeable, cost-effective ways possible in meeting these challenges. We welcome your input.
